An 11,000mAh battery in an X-series phone

HONOR will officially launch the X9e Pro in Malaysia on September 24. Ahead of the full event, the company has confirmed the specification that separates it from an ordinary mid-range phone: an 11,000mAh battery.

The previous X9d already pushed battery capacity to 8,300mAh. The new phone adds another 2,700mAh to a product line that was already built heavily around endurance.

It also exceeds many current premium phones by a large margin. Even HONOR's own Magic8 Pro is listed with a 7,100mAh battery in relevant markets.

Capacity alone does not mean the X9e Pro will last twice as long as a 5,500mAh phone. Display power, chipset efficiency, modem behavior and software all affect runtime, and HONOR has not yet published representative real-world battery-life testing.

The most interesting missing number is thickness

Putting 11,000mAh inside a smartphone is much more technically interesting if the device still behaves like a normal smartphone in a pocket. HONOR has not yet disclosed the X9e Pro's final dimensions or weight.

Those figures will show what kind of engineering achievement the battery actually represents. A huge cell inside an extremely thick phone is easy to explain. The same capacity in a conventional-sized chassis implies a much more meaningful increase in energy density.

Chinese phone makers increasingly use silicon-enhanced battery chemistry to achieve exactly that, but HONOR has not yet clearly specified the X9e Pro's battery chemistry in the pre-launch material currently available.

The 11,000mAh figure should therefore not automatically be described as a silicon-carbon achievement until HONOR publishes the final technical details.

80W charging has a lot more battery to fill

Malaysian reporting and multiple specialist publications point to 80W wired charging and up to 27W wired reverse charging.

Reverse charging makes unusual sense on a phone with this much stored energy. The X9e Pro could potentially top up earbuds, a watch or another phone without immediately sacrificing most of its own battery.

The exact charging conditions and full recharge time still need to be confirmed in HONOR's final specification sheet.

Even at 80W, 11,000mAh represents considerably more energy than a conventional phone battery. Charging curves, temperatures and long-term battery management will matter more than the headline peak wattage.

Durability is the second part of the pitch

HONOR is also emphasizing environmental resistance. The X9e Pro is listed with IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings for dust and water protection.

IP69K covers exposure to high-pressure, high-temperature water jets, going considerably beyond the immersion testing consumers normally associate with IP68.

HONOR's Malaysian promotional material has accordingly shown the phone facing harsher conditions than ordinary splashes, including hot-water demonstrations.

It continues the philosophy of the X9d: prioritize endurance and physical resilience rather than chasing thinness alone.

A 108MP camera sits inside the giant rear circle

The X9e Pro uses a large circular camera island. Branding visible in HONOR's promotional images confirms a 108MP main camera.

There is at least one additional rear camera, but HONOR has not yet published its full specification. It would be premature to identify it as an ultrawide or another particular camera type.

The 108MP figure is also a resolution specification rather than a quality result. Sensor size, optics, stabilization and image processing will matter more when the phone can actually be tested.

Four colors, without the usual rugged-phone look

The Malaysian model will come in Royal Purple, Reddish Brown, Dawn Gold and Midnight Black.

Despite the aggressive protection ratings and oversized battery, the design does not resemble a traditional industrial rugged phone. It retains relatively conventional edges and more decorative rear finishes.

That may be the more important product strategy: bringing rugged-phone attributes such as extreme battery capacity and water resistance into hardware that still looks like a mainstream handset.

September 24 still has most of the specification sheet

HONOR has not yet revealed everything. The chipset, exact display specifications, memory configurations and Malaysian pricing are expected at the full launch.

Reports have circulated about extremely high display brightness and several other specifications, but not every one of those numbers is directly confirmed in the official material available before launch.

Geographic availability is similarly limited. Malaysia is confirmed; HONOR has not announced a broader European or global release.

The battery race is becoming difficult to ignore

More broadly, X9e Pro shows how quickly smartphone battery expectations are changing. Capacities in the 7,000-to-8,000mAh range have already become considerably less unusual among Chinese devices in 2026, and five-digit capacities are moving beyond specialist rugged hardware.

That gradually changes the question for the rest of the industry. It is no longer only whether 5,000mAh is enough for one day, but why some manufacturers can now fit nearly twice that amount of energy into a phone-sized object.

When HONOR completes the announcement on September 24, the X9e Pro's weight and thickness may end up being almost as important as its 11,000mAh headline.
