The storage figure is difficult to miss. Saints Row: The Third Remastered currently sits at roughly 19.2 GB on Apple's store, which immediately separates it from the kind of lightweight mobile adaptation that merely borrows a familiar name.

Feral launches the game on iOS and Android on October 29. The studio requires iOS 18 for Apple's version and advises customers to check hardware compatibility before purchasing. Android pre-registration is live as well, although public hardware requirements are less specific for that platform at the moment.

The controls change with the device

Customisable touchscreen controls are the default mobile solution, but they are only one option. The port also supports controllers as well as keyboard and mouse.

That makes the tablet use case particularly interesting. An iPad can run the same release as a touch-driven portable game, a controller-based console-like setup or something much closer to a small desktop configuration. No separate edition is required.

Feral is carrying the workload, not trimming it away

The full Steelport open world remains intact, along with the campaign and online co-op. Genkibowl VII, Gangstas in Space and The Trouble With Clones are included, plus more than 30 additional weapons, vehicles and costumes.

That also means the mobile hardware has to deal with the same broad categories of workload: streaming an open city, vehicles moving through it, combat effects, character rendering and rapid changes in viewpoint. Storage is merely the easiest specification to see before launch.

Frame rate and visual settings are still unanswered

Feral says the game has been optimised for mobile, but it has not published per-device resolution targets or frame-rate profiles. There is therefore little value in pretending we already know how closely a particular phone will track the console presentation.

The more useful test comes on October 29: sustained performance, heat, battery impact and the compromises required to keep Steelport responsive on mobile silicon. Until then, the notable part of the announcement is the scope. Feral is moving the remaster rather than rebuilding a smaller version around the Saints Row name.
