GungHo Online Entertainment is developing B.L.U.E. NOVA for Steam in 2027. It is a free-to-play third-person PvE shooter whose largest announced mode supports up to 30 players.
The more technically interesting detail is how those people are brought together.
Tower Raid avoids starting with a giant lobby
A participant enters Tower Raid alone. Other players begin elsewhere on the battlefield, and groups form as everyone progresses toward the central Master Tower.
The structure potentially removes some of the organisational friction of assembling a large party before launch. GungHo describes automatic joining and statistical benefits as additional players converge.
The company has not yet explained server topology, instance management or how these groups are technically merged, so anything beyond that would be speculation.
The R.I.N.G. System makes clustering mechanically useful
Players standing together inside a R.I.N.G. activate Unlimited Attack. This provides buffs and removes ammunition consumption for the duration of the state.
It is a straightforward way to encourage strangers to cooperate without requiring extensive voice coordination: joining other players provides an immediate and visible mechanical reward.
The difficult part will be maintaining readability when dozens of players stack gunfire, abilities and visual effects. GungHo has not announced performance targets or PC requirements yet.
Boss Raid scales back to six
High-difficulty Boss Raid encounters use six-player groups instead of the 30-player format.
That difference in scale may allow boss mechanics to demand more individual positioning and awareness, while Tower Raid focuses more heavily on accumulation and spectacle.
Challenge content adds timed activities, limited-availability areas and speedrun objectives.
Character choice and build choice are separate layers
Heroes have their own identities and abilities, but equipped armour provides another customisation layer.
Armour includes skill-tree development, and GungHo says two builds using the same hero can end up with substantially different skills and power.
That distinction will also matter for the free-to-play economy. In-game purchases are confirmed, but GungHo has not yet detailed what the monetisation model will sell.
PC is the only confirmed platform
B.L.U.E. NOVA is currently announced only for Steam, with English, Japanese and Simplified Chinese support.
There are no official PC specifications, frame-rate targets, upscaling details or detailed network requirements yet.
Tokyo Game Show 2026 brings an extended teaser and an exclusive SNIVPA video to GungHo's booth, but the company has not announced a public playable build there.
For now, B.L.U.E. NOVA's clearest technical idea is therefore its cooperative architecture: start alone, encounter strangers, gain power by clustering together and potentially finish the mission with thirty people firing at the same objective.
