TCL P80 Ultra finally puts NXTPAPER on AMOLED, so a matte display no longer means giving up OLED
NXTPAPER used to come with an obvious compromise. TCL could reduce glare and create a more paper-like viewing experience, but its phones largely relied on LCD panels to do it. P80 Ultra changes the equation. The screen is still a real 120Hz AMOLED with deep blacks and a claimed 3,200-nit peak, while TCL layers its anti-glare treatment, blue-light reduction and reading modes on top. The idea is no longer choosing between a comfortable display and a good OLED.

TCL's P80 Ultra finally mixes OLED with an e-reader mindset, and that may be its smartest feature
Most modern phones are designed to keep their screens bright, colorful and demanding of attention. TCL's P80 Ultra can deliberately do the opposite. Introduced at IFA 2026, it combines a conventional high-refresh OLED experience with a one-button reading mode built around the company's NXTPAPER technology.
