Locked & Loaded adds support for DLSS 4.5, FSR 4 and XeSS 3 according to Reissad's patch notes. Frame Generation, visibility, glass rendering and Bodycam's post-processing pipeline have also received changes.

Static scenarios replace continuously moving time of day

Reissad has removed the old dynamic time-of-day system in favour of weighted lighting and weather scenarios selected at the beginning of matches and rounds. The studio specifically cites performance gains from no longer recalculating shadows continuously as the sun moves.

It is an unusually practical compromise for a game sold on image quality. Lighting can still vary, but the expensive part no longer needs to remain fully dynamic every second of a match.

Picture-in-Picture optics join the rendering budget

Magnified scopes now use a Picture-in-Picture system for the first time. Reissad has also built new glass and reticle shaders with coating reflections, dirt, edge transmission, distortion, ghosting and depth-of-field behaviour.

PiP scopes are not free: they require another rendered view of the scene inside the optic. Reissad has not published frame-time measurements for the feature, so its practical GPU cost cannot be quantified from the patch notes alone.

Sound propagation gets its own simulation pass

The audio system now models environmental propagation with real-time reverb behaviour, occlusion and shockwave travel through spaces such as corridors and stairwells. Vertical positioning and footstep elevation are also supposed to be easier to resolve.

Weapon audio has been remixed across the roster, while passing rounds gain distinct whiz and crack feedback. In a game built to suppress conventional HUD information, accurate positional sound is effectively another telemetry channel for the player.

Host migration fixes a very different kind of immersion break

Supported matches no longer have to collapse when their original host disconnects. Bodycam can pick a replacement based on ping and attempt to restore the latest known match state, with Reissad describing a maximum recovery window of five seconds.

The restoration can include positions, magazine ammunition, kills, deaths, dropped weapons, spectator state, bots and weather. Wingman restarts the current round after a migration rather than reconstructing it mid-play.

The underlying transition is unfinished

There is still no party system in this release, gamepad support is described as rough, and both the tablet UI and stumbling physics need additional work. The studio says those limitations are known rather than final.

Steam's current requirements list an RTX 2070 or Radeon RX 5700 with 8 GB of VRAM at minimum, while the recommended tier moves to an RTX 3060 12 GB or RX 6600 XT. Bodycam remains an Unreal Engine 5 Early Access title, and version 0.8 makes that status unusually visible: a large amount of the patch is infrastructure being replaced while the game is already live.
