Pokémon Omega Ruby review: Hoenn thrives on 3DS, but the X/Y engine still shows its limits
Moving from GBA sprites to polygonal models transforms Hoenn and gives battles a new physical presence. Omega Ruby improves some of X/Y's performance problems, but stereoscopic 3D remains inconsistent and can still hammer the frame rate. Its best technical achievements are elsewhere: DexNav, dual-screen information and free-form soaring use the 3DS far more intelligently.
