Disney+ says Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu will be available in IMAX Enhanced when it begins streaming on September 2. The feature runs 133 minutes and arrived on the service a little over three months after its May 22 theatrical opening.

Expanded framing is the feature most subscribers can actually see

The IMAX Enhanced version uses IMAX's expanded aspect ratio where applicable. That can expose additional picture information compared with the wider theatrical framing during supported sequences, depending on the master provided for streaming.

Disney says the expanded presentation will be available to Disney+ subscribers. The audio side has a separate hardware requirement.

Subscribers using certified TVs and AV receivers can access IMAX Enhanced sound powered by DTS. Disney describes that option as preserving the full dynamic range of the theatrical mix, so the benefit is aimed squarely at compatible home-cinema setups rather than every device running the Disney+ app.

The movie is part of a larger September 2 rollout

Disney+ is also using the date for two related releases: a two-episode official making-of podcast and LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian, an animated comedic retelling drawing from the show's three seasons.

The platform is therefore pairing a recent theatrical release with format-specific home-theater features and additional streaming-native material. The movie itself remains the centerpiece, but September 2 is being treated as a broader Mandalorian launch rather than a routine catalog update.
