Stellaris in 2026: Ten Years of Reworks Improved Performance Without Fully Taming the Beast
Version 4.0 was supposed to confront one of Stellaris' oldest technical problems: late-game galaxies suffocating under their own populations and fleets. Its 2025 launch instead brought crashes, slowdowns and desynchronization before months of repair work. The 4.3 Cetus and 4.4 Pegasus updates substantially improved matters in 2026, but the engine remains responsible for an enormous simulation.
