Flapping Airplanes is an American artificial intelligence research laboratory founded in late 2025 in San Francisco by Ben Spector, Asher Spector and Aidan Smith. The company develops approaches to model training that aim to require less data and computational power, alongside software designed to improve GPU utilization. Its research spans GPU kernels, pre-training, post-training and inference. The laboratory currently focuses on foundational research and has not yet released a commercial product.
